Arts Away Touring - professional theatre in towns and villages

What is Arts Away?
Arts Away is the Islands Rural Touring Scheme. Local volunteers become ‘promoters’ for their community, promoting performances of professional touring theatre, dance, comedy and children’s shows in their community venues. The scheme also runs arts workshops and other partnership arts projects.

Towns and villages currently involved

  • Bembridge
  • Brading
  • Brighstone
  • Chale
  • Islandwide: IW Learning Zone
  • Nettlestone
  • Ryde St Johns
  • Totland

How
Local promoters choose and manage events - from booking the venue and applying for appropriate licenses right through to looking after audiences and performers. Arts Away deals with all the other administration and provides any other needed support.

Events are advertised locally and in the local paper but there is also a direct Arts Away mailing list. If you would like to join, simply e-mail your address to the scheme manager below with ‘Mailing list’ as your subject.
