public art
Past ProjectsThese are some of the public art comissions the Arts Unit has undertaken in recent years: Journey in Light The Arts Unit contracted with Peter Freeman, light artist to work as part of the design team for the Ryde Interchange project. Peter will be working an collaboration with Marks Barfield Associates, architects for the project, to realise light interventions that work positively with the building form with the aim of creating an exciting environment and iconic lighted structure that has presence and coherence to users of the interchange but offers a grand lighted gesture when viewed from a distance either on the Solent or from the mainland.
Additional works include a artistic lighting design input in the larger public domain works along Union Street with the idea of creating a visual journey connecting St Thomas’s square with Union Street and the proposed new travel interchange.
